Todd’s Mental Meanderings for the Week of July 26, 2010
I hope that you all had an opportunity to attend Barre’s Heritage Festival this past weekend. It was great fun, with lots of racecars, classic cars, art exhibits, ethnic foods and dunking booths—all the elements that make for a great “fair”. As I’ve mentioned previously on our posting to the Rock of Ages Facebook page, Rock of Ages entered a float in the parade in honor of our 125th anniversary. Amanda has posted some pictures of the Rock of Ages’ team putting the finishing touches on the float in the staging area on Saturday morning. I hope you’ll take the time to view them and get a taste of the fun we all had working together.
At this time I also wish to thank the Times Argus for its community involvement and generosity. To celebrate Barre’s rich granite and cultural heritage, I have written a series of articles about the founding of the granite industry, primarily for in-house use during our 125th anniversary celebration. However the Times Argus graciously consented to publish them in serial fashion, the first of the series appearing in this morning’s paper.

And please remember to perform some act of kindness today. We live increasingly busy lives, so let’s all make a promise to ourselves that we’ll take time to show thoughtfulness and kindness. Be deliberate about being kind. Choose to live a thoughtful, purposeful life that is a benefit and blessing to those around you.
