We refer to two different meanings of the word "consistency" when grading granite:

First, is the color consistent throughout the stone? Will it produce a deep, uniform and lasting shine when polished?

And second, what's the consistency or "density" of the stone? Are there any hairline cracks or other imperfections that will allow moisture, frost or sunlight to damage your memorial?

We inspect each block that is taken from our quarries, and save the very best granite-the stone with greatest consistency-for our own Rock of Ages lines of memorials. These memorials are inspected meticulously throughout the manufacturing process to further ensure consistency.
